There is an alternating single-lane road closure in effect on Kapu‘e Stream Bridge, according to the county Department of Environmental Management.

The bridge is located about 6 miles north of Hilo on the Hawaii Belt Road (Route 19) just south of Papaikou. Repairs are being made to an existing sewer main.

The single-lane closure began Monday and will be in effect through Friday, Dec. 3, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Traffic in both directions will be maintained. Flaggers will be on-site to provide alternating traffic control. Motorists are advised to expect delays and allow for extra travel time to get to their destinations.
