Joan Koval Baldwin, 71, of Hilo died Nov. 16 at home. Born in Chicago, she was a retired corporate librarian for Weyerhaeuser, had also worked for Boeing, Pennzoil and others, had a Bachelor’s degree in chemistry and master’s degree in library science from the University of Illinois and was a member of Phi Beta Kappa and Phi Kappa Phi. No services. Survived by husband, Gerald E. “Gerry” Baldwin of Hilo; sister, Ruth Koval of Chicago. Arrangements by Dodo Mortuary.

Cindy Lehuanani Gonsalves-Pascual, 58, of Pahoa, died Oct. 12 at Hilo Medical Center. Born in Honolulu, she and was an accountant/bookkeeper. Celebration of life noon Sunday (Nov. 28) at Isaac Hale Beach Park in Pohoiki, Puna. Casual attire; no flowers. All COVID-19 precautions to be observed. Survived by daughters, Natasha (Mathew) Gonsalves of Mountain View and Rhanna (Clement) Gonsalves-Kilia of Waianae, Oahu; mother, Karen Gonsalves of Maili, Oahu; brother, Peter (Ronnette) Gonsalves of Maui; sister, Candida (Clu) Paris of Waianae; companion, James Cuizon of Pahoa; 19 grandchildren and a great granddaughter; nieces and nephews. Limoni Latu Holika, 62, of Hilo died Nov. 17 at Hilo Medical Center. Born in Ha‘asini, Tonga, he was a self-employed contractor, pastor and member of Free Church of Tonga. Celebration of life gathering and service 8 a.m.-1 p.m. Friday (Nov. 26) at Free Church of Tonga, 15-1518 17th St., Hawaiian Paradise Park. Burial to follow at Homelani Memorial Park. Survived by wife, Sanilaita Sipinga of Hilo; sons, Ilati Sipinga of Oregon, Tuiono Holika of New Zealand, Sione Holika, Uikelotu Holika and Lolokakala Holika of Hilo; daughters, Hikaione Sipinga of Georgia, Maletina Holika of Utah, Susana Holika and Asinaulu Holika of California; brothers, Kolo (Miki) Holika of Australia, Lolo (Onita) Holika of Tonga and Halatoafa Holika of New Zealand; a granddaughter; nieces and nephews. Don “Gino” Nobuo Okino, 59, of Hilo died Aug. 25 at Hilo Medical Center. Born in Hilo, he was a security guard at the University of Hawaii at Hilo and had also worked for the former Discovery Tours, Frito-Lay and the former Hokama’s Chevron. Private services at a later date. No flowers or koden (monetary gifts). Survived by son, Dan (Jerilyn Gnatmug) Okino of Maui; brothers, Ryan (Norene) Okino, Glenn (Amy) Okino and Terence Okino of Hilo; sisters, Kay (Bob) McGinty of California, Joni (Max) Shiroma of Mountain View and Shari (Daren) Sakoda of Hawaiian Shores; nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. Nora Leilehua Lacerdo Tavares, 91, of Hilo died Oct. 24 at Hilo Medical Center. Born in Hilo, she was a retired courier for Kodak and disc jockey for the former KIPA, KHLO and KIMO radio stations. Visitation 9-10 a.m. Tuesday (Nov. 30) at Dodo Mortuary Chapel. Prayer service at 10 a.m. Burial to follow at Homelani Memorial Park, Ilima Section. Aloha attire. Born in Kaumana, he was retired from county Parks and Rec as a supervisor, U.S. Army World War II Asiatic-Pacific Campaign veteran and member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and United Public Worker’s Retirees.
