Jose Martiniano Barajas, 57, of Pahoa died Oct. 28 at home. Born in Honolulu, he was a fence installer, mechanic, woodworker and animal caretaker. Private services held. Survived by wife, Michelle Jean Barajas of Pahoa; sons, Tré Alconcel of Hilo and Tyson (Kevin) Alconcel of Arizona; stepson, Troy (Pua) Napoleon Jr. of Hilo; daughters, U‘ilani Barajas of Pahoa and Kanani Barajas of Washington; father, Joe (Idalina) Barajas of Wyoming; mother, Genevieve Avilla of Kona; brother, Angelo Barajas of Wyoming; sisters, Amanda Barajas, Sissy (Bo) Waite and Tara Dean Perreira of Kona, Ruselle (Anthony) Galante of Los Angeles; 10 grandchildren aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. Curtiss Wehilani “Uncle” Kihoi, 71, of Hilo died Oct. 20 at home. He was a retired truck driver and welder. Services at a later date. Survived by daughter, Sandra Peacon; brother, Herbert Kihoi Jr.; sisters, Elizabeth Long, Lei Kihoi Dunne, Sarah Puna Kihoi and Peneku Kihoi; two grandchildren and two great grandchildren; cousins. Christopher “Chris” Albert Lecce, 69, of Kailua-Kona died Nov. 18 at Kona Community Hospital. Born in Philadelphia, he was a limousine driver for Resorts Limousine Services, retired business owner, scuba diver and member of St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church. Mass 10 a.m. Tuesday (Nov. 23) at St. Michael the Archangel Church. No flowers; memorial donations to St. Jude Children’s Hospital. Survived by son, Antonio (Jerilyn) Lecce of Montana; daughter, Gina (Ryan) Plumb of Colorado; sister, Linda (Clete) Zink of Montana; seven grandchildren; two nieces. Arrangements by Cremation Services of West Hawaii.

Joanne Marie Vasey, 76, of Ocean View, Hawaii, died September 23, 2021 at Kona Community Hospital. Born in Seattle, Washington on September 25, 1944, she was a brush picker for Christmas wreaths and decorations and a macadamia nut picker, and an in-home care provider for the state of Oregon. Services will be held at a later date. She is survived by her husband, William Vasey of Ocean View; sons, John Mitts of Coos Bay, Oregon and Jerry Mitts of the Mainland; daughter, Theresa Whittaker of Myrtle Point, Oregon; several grandchildren.
