Gov. David Ige has released $700,000 in capital improvement project funding to finance the design for the rehabilitation of the Hakalau Stream Bridge on Hawaii Belt Road north of Hilo.

“I’d like to thank Gov. Ige for releasing funding … ,” said state Sen. Lorraine R. Inouye, a Democrat whose district includes portions of Hilo, Hamakua, Kohala, Waimea, Waikoloa and Kona.

“I also want to express my gratitude toward Edwin Sniffen, deputy director for Highways for the Hawaii Department of Transportation, and HDOT, who continue to work tirelessly to expedite this project for the residents of Hamakua.”
