Bobbye St. Ambrogio, 81, of Keaau, formerly of Pepeekeo, died Oct. 12 at home. Born in Flushing, N.Y. she was retired chief of the Bergen County (N.J.) Sheriff’s Department, was their first female officer and founded its Mounted Division. After moving to Hawaii she worked with the Civil Defense to resurrect the neighborhood watch program, became the liaison between Community Policing and the Prosecutor’s Office, and served on the county Fire and Police commissions.
