UHH holds serve on road, sweeping Fresno Pacific

A quick glance at the PacWest volleyball standings shows the UH-Hilo Vulcans are holding up their end of the bargain.

In its first mainland trip since the onset of the pandemic, UHH took care of business again Friday night, sweeping Fresno Pacific in Fresno, Calif., 25-19, 25-13, 25-18.

The Vuls (7-2, 4-1) finish their four-match road trip Saturday at Holy Names as one of six one-loss teams in the conference. Their are four four-loss teams – their past three road opponents as well as HPU, which beat UHH – and cellar-dwelling Holy Names (4-10, 1-5).

Before getting to the Hawks, UHH took care of the Sunbirds in about 70 minutes, getting 14 kills and 20 digs from Bria Beale and another solid effort from Alexandria Parisian (15 digs, seven kills and four service aces).

UHH didn’t allow an ace in serve-receive and hit .226.

Also for the Vuls, Sydney Gott had eight kills and a .615 hitting percentage, Samara Cruz posted seven kills and 16 digs, Kamilla Marinas contributed six kills, five in the third set and setter came up with Kendall Kott 39 assists and 13 digs.
