DOH: 280 new COVID-19 cases statewide, 39 on Big Island

The state Department of Health today reported 280 new confirmed and probable COVID-19 cases in Hawaii, including 39 new infections on the Big Island.

An average of 465 new cases have been reported daily Sept. 13-19.

Hawaii County now has a 6.3% test positivity rate compared to a 5.6% positivity rate statewide.

In the past 14 days, 283 infections have been reported in Hilo and 285 have been reported in Kailua-Kona.

During that same time period, 52 cases have been reported in Waimea; 107 in Pahoa; and 89 in Keaau.

According to the DOH, 66.6% of Hawaii’s population has now been fully vaccinated against the novel coronavirus and 75.1% have received at least one dose.

In Hawaii County, 63% of residents are fully inoculated while 75% have received at least one dose.

Testing is available from 11 a.m.-4 p.m. today at Kona Community Aquatic Center in Kailua-Kona, 2-6 p.m. at Makuu Farmers Market in Pahoa, and until noon at the HUB-Pahoa, located at the intersection of Highway 130 and Highway 132.
