Vera Bosak, 87, of Orchidland Estates died Aug. 25 at a private care home. Born in the Czech Republic, she was a co-owner of the former Photocine Servicenter Inc. on Oahu, former elementary school teacher in the Czech Republic and gardener. Private services. Survived by son, Zdenek (Margaret Russo) Kluzak of Volcano; stepdaughters, Kristina (Scott) Wright of Washington, Jirina Potuzakova and Jaroslava Vlasakova of Czech Republic; four grandchildren. Loreta Gloria Afaga Galapon, 48, of Kapaau died Aug. 23 at North Hawaii Community Hospital. Born in Ilocos Norte, Philippines, she was a housekeeper for a private beach resort in Waikoloa. Memorial Mass/celebration of life at a later date. Survived by husband, Victor Galapon of Philippines; children, Michael (Jhoe Jhie Anarna) Afaga and Michelle (Ronamar) Maladrigo of Philippines, Marvin (Alyza Bumagat) Afaga and Mike Angelo Afaga of Kapaau; aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. May Ayame Hatayama, 83, of Hilo died Aug. 27 at home. Born in Hilo, she was a homemaker and member of Hilo Higashi Hongwanji Mission. Private services held. No flowers or koden (monetary gifts). Virginia Beatrice Honda, 91, of Hilo, formerly of Paauhau, died Sept. 1 at Hale Anuenue Restorative Care Center. Born in Paauhau, she was retired from the former Honokaa Hospital, a volunteer at Hale Anuenue Restorative Care Center and member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, Kohala Puerto Rican Social Club, United Public Workers Retirees and Hamakua Jodo Mission. Services at a later date. Survived by daughters, Suzanne (Warren) Maisenbach of Keaau, Trina (Alec) Lebel and Melissa (Christopher) Brilhante of Hilo; sister, Frances (Leonard) Ayala of Modesto, Calif.; brother, John (Anita) Perry Jr. of Honokaa; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews. John Wayne Mulkey, 74, of Mountain View, died July 14, 2020, at Hawaii Care Choices Pohai Malama Care Center. Born in Honolulu, he was a retired chief agent for Hawaiian Airlines, U.S. Army Vietnam War veteran, Kaimuki High School graduate and a member of St. Theresa Catholic Church in Mountain View.
