Raymond Samuel Johnson, 89, of Hilo died Aug. 15 at Life Care Center of Hilo. Born in New York City, he was an actor who appeared in “Dirty Harry” as a character hired to beat up the Scorpio Killer and an antagonist to Sun Ra in the jazz cult classic, “Space Is The Place.” His poem, “Walking East on 125th Street,” is included in “Black Fire,” a pivotal literary collection of the Black Arts Movement of the 1960s.
