A man was hospitalized after being stabbed in Ocean View, police said.

At about 7: 30 p.m. Friday officers responded to “numerous calls” about an active domestic disturbance between a man and woman at a Sea Breeze Parkway home, according to a statement. Arriving officers found a 36-year-old man, with an apparent stab wound to his upper left chest, who said he was stabbed by his neighbor, a 68-year-old man.

The victim was taken to Kona Community Hospital in critical condition.

According to police, the 68-year-old man reported he went to the neighbor’s house to intervene after hearing the woman’s voice in distress.

A physical altercation ensued, which led to the 68-year-old man being struck in the head with a blunt object and the 36-year-old man being stabbed, police said.

Police say the stabbing victim was in stable condition Monday while the 68-year-old man declined medical attention.

The incident is still under investigation. Anyone with information is asked to call the police department’s nonemergency number at 935-3311 or Crime Stoppers at 961-8300.
