Monico Cruz Castillo, 92, of Kailua-Kona died Aug. 1, at home. Born in Bactad, Urdaneta, Pangasinan, Philippines, he owned Castillo Orchid and Plumeria Farm, grew coffee, macadamia nuts and avocados, was a houseman for the former Kona Hilton Hotel, landscaper at Pottery Terrace and past president of Filipino Organization of Kona. Graveside service 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 4, at Kona Memorial Park. Limited attendance due to COVID-19 restrictions. Survived by daughters, Lydia (Gene) Ota of Keopu, Tellie (Tante) Castillo-Urban of Kailua-Kona, Glenda (Ronnie Wamil) Tabucbuc of Honokaa and Maria (Peter) Carvalho of Keauhou Mauka; sons, Gloco (Lynn Hamilton) Castillo of Kealakehe, Nookie (Jessievel) Castillo of Kailua-Kona and Monico (Michael Sutton) Castillo Jr. of Honolulu; sister, Trinidad Bagalay of Philippines; 12 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren; nieces and nephews. Carole Anne Ishimaru, 75, of Hilo died Aug. 2. Born in Hilo, she was a retired public school teacher and administrator and member of Church of the Holy Apostles. Private graveside services held. No flowers or koden (monetary gifts). Survived by sister, Bobbi (Dennis) Miyashiro; sister-in-law, Coreen Ishimaru; nieces, nephews and cousins. Arrangements by Dodo Mortuary.

Joseph “Uncle Joe” Kahaku Kealoha, 66, of Waimea died June 29 at Hawaii Care Choices Pohai Malama Care Center in Hilo. Born in Kaimu, Kalapana, he was a retired Hawaii County police officer, worked at Parker Ranch and Liliuokalani Trust, an Alihikaua, Ali‘i in the 7th degree in the Royal Order of Kamehameha I, Moku O Kohala and board member of Kipuka O Ke Ola (K.O.K.O.) and Waimea Hawaiian Homestead Association. Visitation 9 a.m.-1:30 p.m. Saturday (Aug. 28) at Dodo Mortuary Chapel. Service at 11 a.m. Cremation to follow. Visitation again 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 29, at the chapel. Brief service at 11 a.m. Casual attire; Seating limited, masks and social distancing required. Survived by wife, Tammy M. George Kimura, 77, of Hilo died Aug. 9 at Hilo Medical Center. Born in Hilo, he was the owner of Geo.Co Electrical Contracting and LKZ Electric and a member of Hilo Missionary Church. Visitation 9-10:30 a.m. Saturday (Aug. 28) at the Hilo Missionary Church, 1044 Komohana St. Funeral service at 10:30 a.m. Burial to follow at Homelani Memorial Park. Lisa Marie Newcomb, 69, of Kurtistown died July 22 at Hilo Medical Center. Born in Long Beach, Calif., she was a former sign painter and seamstress and member of Life Church in Kona. No services.
