An earthquake rocked the Big Island this afternoon.
Preliminary measurement by the U.S. Geological Survey pegged the temblor at magnitude-5.0, 10 kilometers north-northwest of Kukuihaele on the Hamakua Coast, at a depth of 12 kilometers.
The quake could be felt as far away as the Kahuku unit of Hawaii Volcanoes National Park in Ka‘u with numerous reports of it being felt in Hilo and Kona.
According to the Pacific Tsunami Warning Center, no tsunami is expected.
