UPDATE at 1:30 p.m.: Hawaii Island police has reported that the 9-1-1 emergency call system has been fully restored, and the technical issues surrounding the communications center and call system have been resolved.

PREVIOUSLY at 11:11 a.m.: Hawaii Island police report that their communications and 9-1-1 call center is now operational to receive calls from landlines and cellular phones with the exception of those who use Verizon as a service provider. People who have Verizon as a service carrier should continue to call the police department’s non-emergency line in the event they experience an emergency. An update will be provided when the 9-1-1 system is fully restored.

PREVIOUSLY:Police said this morning they are having a technical issue affecting the 9-1-1 emergency call system, and ask that if you are experiencing an emergency to call the department’s non-emergency line at 935-3311. An update will be provided when the 9-1-1 system is restored.
