Kean Wong is back in the big leagues, so hopefully Hilo will have two active major leaguers this week.

Wong came in as a defensive replacement Saturday and popped out in his only at-bat in the Los Angeles Angels’ 13-3 loss at the Tampa Bay Rays, his first action in eight days.

After playing in 17 games for Los Angeles, Wong last week was optioned back to Triple-A Salt Lake, but he had been traveling with the Angels as part of the taxi squad. On Friday, the Waiakea alum rejoined the active roster when Justin Upton was placed on the 10-day injured list with a lower back strain.

His older brother, Kolten Wong, made his presence felt in the Milwaukee Brewers’ win Saturday against Colorado before leaving the game in the eighth inning with what was described as calf tightness. The team is hoping it was just the result of a cramp, the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reported.

Wong, who already has landed on the injured list twice this season with oblique injuries, will be re-evaluated Sunday. The former Kamehameha standout was 3 for 4 with a double and stolen base. On Friday, Wong hit his seventh home run off the season.
