Research on novel cancer treatments swept the competition at this year’s Hawaii District Science and Engineering Fair held in March.
Waiakea High senior Lela DeVine and Hilo High junior Maya Oishi earned top awards at the virtual district fair, supported by the Hawaii Science and Technology Museum and the University of Hawaii at Hilo. DeVine and Oishi were chosen as the East Hawaii representatives to the 2021 Regeneron International Science & Engineering Fair.
At the virtual Hawaii State Science & Engineering Fair in April 2021, Waiakea High sophomores Rachel Tao and Alanna Sun earned coveted spots on the state delegation to the international competition.
Regeneron ISEF will be conducted virtually this summer by the Society for Science. The international fair hosts more than 1,800 students from across the globe, all competing for top awards, scholarships, fellowships and research publication.
