Join local artist Ken Charon for a series of six drawing classes for children at the Volcano Art Center’s Niaulani Campus.

Classes are slated for 3:30-5 p.m. Wednesdays, June 9-July 14. The series is for art lovers from ages 8-14 years old.

Charon’s lessons focus on drawing things from portraits, landscapes and still-life, and students will be encouraged to prepare for more personal imaginary works. Field trips into the Niaulani Rain Forest will also be included, weather permitting.

Charon enjoys working with Hawaii’s children and has done so since 1986 with the Artists in the Schools program, as well as in private lessons and summer camps. He has also worked with the developmentally and physically disabled with VSA arts.

For any questions about this class, contact Charon at artfarm@aloha.net

Cost to attend is $120 or $110 for VAC members, plus a $17 supply fee.

For more information and to register, call 967-8222 or visit www.volcanoartcenter.org.

The Niaulani Campus is located at 19-4074 Old Volcano Road in Volcano Village.
