Fumio Oshiro, 87, of Hilo died April 29 at home. Born in Glenwood, he was retired from Hawaiian Airlines and a member of Honpa Hongwanji Hilo Betsuin and Anela Nani Kumiai. Private services held. No koden (monetary gifts). Survived by son, Donn (Karen) Oshiro of Lake Forest Park, Wash.; sisters, Elsie Oshiro of Honolulu and Naomi (Benjamin) Sakuma of Pearl City, Oahu; sister-in-law, Nobuko Oshiro of Mililani, Oahu; two grandchildren; nieces and nephews. Harriet Leilani Pacheco, 79, of Keaau died May 6 at Hilo Medical Center. Born on Maui, she was a baker and owner of the former Punahele Bakery Shop and member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. Private services held. Survived by sons, William Branco of Kona and Herman Pacheco of Honolulu; daughters, Tammy Branco of Honolulu, Peggy Pacheco and Lisa (Michael) Turpen of Hilo; 16 grandchildren and four great grandchildren; nieces and nephews. Jeraldine Kuulei Kaheiki Spencer, 71, of Hilo died May 3 at Hilo Medical Center. Born in Hilo, she was a homemaker, bowled on the “Up Yours” Women’s League at the former Hilo Lanes Bowling Alley and other leagues, played softball for the Woody’s team and paddled for Hui Wa‘a O Waiakea Canoe Club, co-founded Panaewa Rainforest Buncos social dice team and was president of her personal team, Xtreme Buncos. and enjoyed playing paiute. Visitation 9-11 a.m. Friday (May 28) at Dodo Mortuary Chapel. Memorial service at 11 a.m. Casual attire. Face masks and social distancing required. Miyoko Taira, 89, of Hilo died May 14 at Hale Anuenue Restorative Care Center. Born in Hilo, she was a retired cook and assistant cafeteria manager for Hawaii County Economic Opportunity Council at St. Joseph Schools, member of Honpa Hongwanji Hilo Betsuin and Hui Okinawa. Kazue “Kay” Murakami Tanimoto, 101, of Hilo died March 17, 2020, at home. Born in Hilo, she was a retired book binder for Hilo Printers, the only surviving member of a family business established in 1949. She also was a member of Taishoji Soto Mission, Yamaguchi Kenjinkai and was a 4-H leader. Visitation 9-10:30 a.m. Saturday (May 29) at Taishoji Soto Mission, 275 Kinoole St. in Hilo. Memorial service at 10:30 a.m. Casual attire. Seating is limited. Social distancing and face masks required.
