Herbert Patrick Aguiar, 75, of Pahoa died April 8 at Hilo Medical Center. Born in Hilo, he was a retired Hawaii Community Correctional Center adult corrections officer and U.S. Navy Vietnam War veteran. Private services held. Survived by wife, Sri B. Aguiar of Pahoa; daughters, Fatima P. Aguiar of Pahoa and Kimberly Aguiar of Texas; son, Ibrahim Aguiar of Pahoa; brothers, Michael S. Andrew Avalino Carvalho, aka Moke Carvalho and Henry Carvalho, 85, of Kapaau died April 5 at home. He was born in Halaula. Graveside urn committal service 10 a.m. Saturday, June 19, at Halawa Catholic Cemetery in Kapaau. Casual attire. Survived by wife, Wilhelmina TinLoy Carvalho; children, Debbie (Sanford) Nagatori, Sharon M. Ann Houseworth Cooke, 92, of Hawi died May 1 at home. Born in Sunbury, Pa., she was a retired elementary teacher who taught at private schools in Millbrook, N.Y. and Santa Barbara, Calif.. Francis Anthony Garifo, 80, of Kailua-Kona died April 15 at Kona Community Hospital. Born in New York, he was a sales representative for PING and member of St. Michael’s Catholic Church. Survived by wife, Mary Garifo of Kailua-Kona; daughters, Paula (Bryan) Knight of Kailua-Kona and Roxanne (Diane Tell) Garifo-Tell of Arizona; son, Gregory (Greg Grantham) Garifo of Arizona; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Tyler-Jay (Kaika, Kaiks) Ikaika Anuenue O Ka Malia Kai Moses Kuahiwinui, 34, of Keaau died March 15. He was a self-employed musician and automobile mechanic. Henry “Sonny” “Cowboy” Meyer Jr., 90, of Kapulena died April 15 at home. Born in Paauilo, he was a plumber and carpenter for the former Hamakua Sugar Co., member of Kona Seniors Bowling League and Hawaii Army National Guard veteran.
