The UH-Hilo baseball team split a doubleheader against Hawaii Pacific on Friday at Les Murakami Stadium.

The Vulcans won Game 1 9-8, overcoming a 7-3 deficit in the third inning. They rallied for two runs in the fourth and four in the sixth.

In the fourth, Chris Aubort to hit a two-run homer to cut HPU’s lead to 7-5, and Teppei Fukuda had a two-run single to highlight the four-run sixth.

Christian Sadler pitchers 5 1/3 innings of one-run relief for the win. John Kea allowed a run in an inning for his first save.

Casey Yamauchi and Fukuda had two hits and two RBIs each, Lawson Faria and Trey Yukumoto also had two hits, and Farias scored three runs for the Vulcans.

In Game 2, Brandon Peterson pitched six shutout innings to lead the Sharks over the Vulcans 4-1.

Kyle Alcorn pitched five innings and gave up four runs in the loss. Jarod Kaneshiro pitched three innings of scoreless relief.

Bradyn Yoshida was the only Vulcan to pair hits while Mason Campbell walked twice.

UHHH is 5-5 and 5-2 PacWest while HPU is 2-9, 2-5.
