Gregory “Hawaiian” Kaleinani Awai, 49, of Hilo died March 2 at Hilo Medical Center. Born in Hilo, he was a construction laborer. Memorial service 10 a.m.-1 p.m. Saturday (March 20) at Malia Puka O Kalani Catholic Church in Keaukaha. Scattering of ashes to follow at Puhi Bay. Survived by daughter, Kaleinani Awai; partner, Kimberlee Sin; hanai children, Kerstin Lee Verece, Quentin Verece and Dustin Leong; mother, Rae Lee Awai; brothers, Charleston (Davonne Pacheco) Awai Jr. and Keala (Christie) Awai; sisters, Melissa “Missy” (Kimo) Palakiko, Summer Awai and Devin (John) Forrester; nieces, nephews and cousins. Norma Odasco Felipe, 79, of Pepeekeo died March 9 at Hilo Medical Center. Born in Mangumit, Canlubang, Laguna, Philippines, she was a factory worker for Mauna Loa Macadamia Nut Co. and member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Papaikou and Pepeekeo Senior Citizen. Visitation 9-10:30 a.m. Friday, March 26, at Dodo Mortuary Chapel. Funeral Service at 10:30 a.m. Face masks and social distancing required. Burial at Homelani Memorial Park, Ilima section. David Keahonui Kahihikolo Jr., 84, of Hilo died March 2 at home. Born in Hilo, he was a retired sheet metal worker for Custom Sheet Metal and member of the Hawaii Sheet Metal Workers Union, Local 501. Visitation 4-6 p.m. Monday (March 22) at Dodo Mortuary Chapel. Prayer service at 6 p.m. Graveside committal service 8:30 a.m. Tuesday (March 23) at Homelani Memorial Park. Casual attire. Seating is limited and face masks and social distancing are required. Sheridan Howard Kobayashi, 75, of Hilo died March 5 in Keaau. Born in Hilo, he worked for the state Department of Agriculture. Private services at a later date. Survived by sons, Neil (Daintry) Kobayashi and Sean Kobayashi of Keaau; brothers, Thomas (Elaine Nakatani) Harrison, Michael Kobayashi, Terrill (Gail) Harrison and Leslie Estrella of Hilo; sister-in-law, Lorraine Kobayashi of Hilo; two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews. Daniel Verley Teeters, 74, of Pahoa died Sept. 16 at Hilo Medical Center. Born in Los Angeles, he was a retired welder and U.S. Navy veteran. Graveside committal services noon Wednesday (March 17) at Hawaii Veterans Cemetery No. 2 pavilion. Attendance is restricted to 10 people. Face masks and social distancing required. Survived by son, Darby Teeters of Pahoa; wife, Valerie Teeters of Pahoa; sister, Susan Teeters of Pahoa; a niece and two nephews. Arrangements by Dodo Mortuary.
