Queen’s North Hawaii Community Hospital certified nurse midwife Jackie Meister was recently selected Advanced Practitioner Registered Nurse (APRN) of the Year for Molokai/Queen’s North Hawaii Community Hospital by The Queen’s Health Systems.
The Queen’s Health Systems APRN Committee accepts nominations every year for APRNs who embody the values of C.A.R.E. — compassion, aloha, respect and excellence. APRNs include nurse practitioners, clinical nurse specialists, certified registered nurse anesthetists and certified nurse midwives.
Meister works in the Women’s Center at Queen’s North Hawaii Community Hospital in Waimea. She has a bachelor’s degree in nursing and a master’s degree in midwifery, and has been with Queen’s North Hawaii Community Hospital for four years.
Meister was selected for her demonstration of genuine concern and compassion for her patients combined with excellent care and an ability to instill a high level of trust.
Her nomination was made by a patient who stated, “The genuine concern and compassionate manner she spoke to me with made me feel like I was speaking to a friend, not just a care provider. That instilled a level of trust and ease that is so critical for patients to feel … .”
