Jill DeLuz, 87, of Waimea died Feb. 28 at home. Born in Honolulu, she was a retired landscaping business owner. Private services at a later date. Survived by sons, Robert (Patricia) Kaula of Hilo and Harold Kaula of Waimea; daughter in-law, Heather Kaula of Waimea; six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews. William Andrew “Boogie” Maunaku‘i Gonsalves, 51, of Hilo died Feb. 27 at Hilo Medical Center. Born in Hilo, he was a 1987 graduate of Hilo High School, formerly worked on Johnson Island and at Ken’s House of Pancakes and was a member of a Christian Bible group in Hilo. Celebration of life forthcoming. Survived by wife, Nolaida Placino of Saipan; brothers, Jarrett (Pua) Gonsalves of Kentucky and Darren (Christina) Gonsalves of Virginia; sisters, Tanya Kamakeeaina (Kenneth Kaai) of Molokai and Leilani “Pinky” Brown of Alabama; 14 nieces and nephews and 12 grandnieces and grandnephews. Hose “Kila” Lanakila Manini, 89, of Kailua-Kona died Feb. 26 at Kona Community Hospital. Born in Waianae, Oahu, he was an established local musician, entertainer, recording artist and member of the former Aloha Pumehana Serenaders, singing lead on their popular rendition of “Baby Kalae” on the “Hula Gems” album. He was also a longtime Merrie Monarch house band musician who performed with many musicians, entertainers and halau. Celebration of life at a later date. Survived by companion, Paul Sowa of Kailua-Kona; sister, Michelle (Conrad) Molina Jr. of Ewa Beach, Oahu; two nieces; hanai family. Arrangements by Cremation Services of West Hawaii.
