Edward “Eddie” William Kahuena Kawewehi, 74, of Holualoa died Feb. 10 at Kona Community Hospital. Born in Honolulu, he was a cook at the former Kona Surf and Keauhou Beach hotels and member of the ILWU Retirement Club. Private services at a later date. Survived by wife, Lehua Kawewehi of Holualoa; stepdaughters, Sandy (Brian) Komo of Holualoa and Kathy (Steven) Kuakahela of Kona Palisades; hanai sons, Eddie Boy (Denise) Lovell-Wong of Captain Cook and Conrad (Davi) Chong of Holualoa; hanai daughter, Noelani Johnson of Kealakehe; sister, Blossom Russell of Kealakehe; brothers, Kaipo (Puanani) Kawewehi of Hilo and Jackson Kawewehi of Spokane, Wash.; nieces, nephews and cousins. Edwin “Uncle Eddie” Dean Macomber, 80, of Keaau died Feb.10 in Hilo. Born in Kahalu‘u Mauka, he worked as a heavy equipment operator for Keaau Service Station and a certified CDL trainer, was a retired heavy equipment operator from BMS Construction, retired trucking and warehouse manager from HT&T Co., retired driver guide and trainer for Slim Holt Hawaii and U.S. National Guard veteran.
