Bernaldo Ramos Abella, 95, of Papaaloa died Feb. 15 at home. Born in Santa Cruz, Ilocos Sur, Philippines, he was a retired cane truck and service truck driver for the former Davies Hamakua Sugar Plantation Company and member of St. Anthony’s Catholic Church. Visitation 8-10 a.m. Thursday, March 4, at Dodo Mortuary Chapel. Funeral Service at 10 a.m. Burial to follow at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church Cemetery in Laupahoehoe. Face masks and social distancing required. Survived by wife, Modesta Abella of Papaaloa; daughter, Josie (Derek) Aurio of Hilo; daughter-in-law, Cheryl Abella of Papaaloa; three grandchildren. Howard Polialoha Beamer, 69, of Waimea died Feb. 16 at Hale Ho‘ola Hamakua. Born in Honolulu, he was a former golf professional at the Princeville Resort on Kauai. Private services. Scattering of ashes at a later date. Survived by sons, Howard Cabral of Honolulu, Ikaika Beamer of California; hanai son, Kimo Greene of Kauai; sisters, Louise Beamer of Waimea and Sarah (Ed) Beamer Glendon of Kapueuhi; brothers, Matthew Beamer of Waimea, Jesse (Sharon) Beamer of Kawaihae and William Beamer of Waimea; a granddaughter; aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. Teruo Kodani, 95, of Hilo died Feb. 4 at a private care home in Hilo. Born in Hilo, he was a retired insurance agent from First Insurance Company and Bishop Insurance Company and a U.S. Army veteran. Private services held. No flowers or koden (monetary offerings). Survived by son, Michael (Mary Ann) Kodani of Hilo; daughters, Leila (Keith) Shimizu of Kailua-Kona and Joan (Roy) Takemoto of Hilo; sister, Doris Motoda of Honolulu; Tow grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; nephews, nieces and cousins. Salvatore Edward “Buddy” Verga, 79, of Pahoa died Feb. 5 at home. Born in Passaic, N. J., he was a former record producer. Services at a later date. Survived by sisters, Mary Sue Verga and Camille (Patrick) Grella of New Jersey; nephews.
