The state Department of Health today reported 264 new cases of COVID-19 in Hawaii.

Of those, 10 are on the Big Island.

According to Hawaii County Civil Defense, two individuals remain hospitalized with the virus and no new deaths have been reported in the last week.

“Do know that many of the new positive cases we are seeing on Hawaii Island are travel-related, which emphasizes the importance of exercising caution during trans-Pacific and interisland travel,” Civil Defense said in a message this morning. “We continue to do well within our communities and key to our safety is following the preventative policies of face coverings, distancing and gatherings of no more than 10 people.”

According to the DOH, Hawaii County has a 1.9% test positivity rate, compared to the state’s 3.4% test positivity rate.
