The state Department of Health today reported two new cases of COVID-19 on the Big Island.
Three new cases were reported Sunday. According to Hawaii County Civil Defense, five individuals are currently hospitalized.
“The island and state of Hawaii remain one of the safest places in the United States,” Civil Defense said in a message this afternoon. “Mahalo for your kokua in following the preventive measures that have seen us through for these past months. We need to stay healthy with exercise, fresh air, sunlight, cleanliness, and continue to follow the preventive policies of face coverings, distancing, and limiting gatherings of no more than 10 people.”
Civil Defense on Sunday also reported an additional COVID-related death on the island, bringing the total number to 51.
Testing will be available Wednesday, from 3-6 p.m. at the Afook-Chinen Civic Auditorium in Hilo and from 2-6 p.m. at Konawaena High School.
Statewide, 46 new cases of the coronavirus were reported today, bringing the total number of cases since the start of the pandemic of 21,028.
