Charles “Charlie” Iseri, 86, of Hilo died Dec. 21 at Hawaii Care Choices Pohai Malama Care Center. Born in Kainaliu, he was a retired industrial arts teacher who taught at Hilo High School, Honokaa High School and Kalanianaole Intermediate School, former instructor for Hilo Ki-Aikido Club, member of the Prostate Cancer Support Group and Honpa Hongwanji Hilo Betsuin and U.S. Army Reserve veteran. Private services held. No flowers or koden (monetary gifts). Survived by wife, Ella Iseri of Hilo; daughter, Leanne (Greg) Kirk of Santa Monica, Calif.; sister, Etsuko Furukawa of Honolulu; brother, Arthur (Irene) Iseri of Pearl City, Oahu; nieces, nephews and cousins. Teodorico “Tidi” Mendoza Jr., 69, of Pepeekeo died Nov. 27 at home. Born in Hilo, he worked at the Hakalau and Wainaku plantations, Hilo Coast Processing Co., Gay and Robinson, Aloha Machine and Welding Co., Parsons Inc., Critchfield Pacific Inc. and AZCO, was a member of the Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, Hakalau Senior Citizens, Pepeekeo Filipino Club, ILWU Pension Club, Plumbers and Pipefitters Union Local 675, Pepeekeo Volunteer Firefighters, Hilo Coast Fishing Association, Aloha Machine and Welding Bowling Team, US Bowling Club, East Hawaii Aquaculture Group and volunteered at the Pepeekeo Volunteer Fire Station, Big Island International Marathon and Sakada Day Celebration. Drive-through celebration of life 2-4 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 2, 2021, at Dodo Mortuary Chapel. Masks and social distancing required. No refreshments. Survived by wife, Lorraine Mendoza of Pepeekeo; daughters, Lorilyn (Zachary) Montizor of Orchidland, Tanya (Stan) Sato of Hawaiian Acres, Marissa (Chad Grace) Mendoza of Keaau and Kacie (Keleka) Hookano of Kaneohe, Oahu; brothers, Duane (Judy) Mendoza of Hilo, Benjamin Mendoza of Kona, Randall Mendoza and Clay Mendoza of Pepeekeo and Paul (Lei) Mendoza of Keaau; eight grandchildren; nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. Kimi Morita Onodera, 98, of Waimea died Dec. 17 at home. Born in Hawaii, she was a member of Kamuela Hongwanji Mission and Kamuela Hongwanji Fujinkai. Private services at a later date. Survived by children, Millicent Lurito, Virginia Ruiz, Glenn (Georgie) Onodera, Shirley (Dan) O’connor, Diane Onodera, Leslie (Dorothy) Onodera and Russell Onodera; sisters-in-law, Doris Onodera of Waimea and Doris Onodera of Kaneohe, Oahu; 10 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews. Michael William Smith, 76, of Waimea, formerly of Kailua, Oahu, died Dec. 20 in Waimea.
