Remains of a body found last week in a remote Paauilo gulch appear to have injuries consistent with an accidental fall, Hawaii Police Department said Wednesday.

A full autopsy report is pending, but the forensic pathologist who performed an autopsy on the body found no signs of additional traumatic injuries, according to police.

Shortly after 3:15 p.m. Dec. 2, Hamakua patrol officers responded quickly after area residents reported finding a deceased body while hiking in a remote gulch off of Antone Deluz Road near Paauilo.

Police said Wednesday that foul play is not suspected.

Positive identification of the victim is pending the results of DNA identification.

Detectives are continuing the investigation.
