Marvel Hiilei Bento, 77, of Hilo died Nov. 8 at Hilo Medical Center. Born in Hilo, she was a retired teacher and counselor at Waiakea Elementary School, former president of Hawaii Island Retired Teachers Association and member of HSTA. Services at a later date. Ralph “Commander Jack” Jackson Dalbey Jr., 88, of Honaunau died Nov. 1 at Kona Community Hospital. Born in Rochester, N.Y., he was a retired stockbroking manager for Shearson Lehman Brothers, coffee farmer, owner of Viewpoint Kennels, retired president of the District Exchange clubs of California, Hawaii and Nevada, fraternity member at Williams College, PHI PSI and retired U.S. Navy Commander and pilot. Survived by wife, Nancy Dalbey of Honaunau; daughters, Darralyn (Craig) Clarke of Honaunau and Robyn (Pat) Dunn of Los Angeles; sons, James (Judy) Dalbey of Carlsbad, Calif., and Jeffrey (Tammi) Dalbey of Hilo; brothers, Richard Dalbey of San Diego and Tom (Joan) Dalbey of Santa Fe, N.M.; 12 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews and cousins. Shigeko Freyser, 89, of Hilo died Oct. 27 at home. Born in Fukuoka Prefecture, Japan, she was a homemaker and member of Soka Gakkai International Hilo. Private services held. Survived by daughter, Kiyomi (Akira) Takeshima of Japan; son, Joji (Yasumi) Sueyoshi of Japan; sisters, Hisako Sueyoshi and Sachiko Nakayama of Japan; caregiver, Julia Hoke of Hilo; seven grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews. Robert Joseph “Boogie” Silva Sr., 76, of Medford, Ore., died Oct. 17 at Roseburg Veterans Home. Born in Honomu, he was a Vietnam War veteran.
