Gov. David Ige said today that tourists from Japan will once again visit the islands “as early as Nov. 6.”
In a media conference at Daniel K. Inouye International Airport in Honolulu, Ige said travelers from Japan will be allowed in the state without a mandatory 14-day quarantine with a negative COVID-19 test administered within 72 hours of travel by a “trusted testing partner” in Japan.
Ige said COVID-19 testing in Japan for travel to Hawaii will begin on Nov. 3.
Japan discontinued commercial flights to Hawaii months ago because of the coronavirus pandemic.
