Antonia Freitas Avelino, 88, of Hilo died Sept. 11 at Hawaii Care Choices Pohai Malama Care Center. Born in Holualoa, she was a homemaker. Private services held. Survived by children, Alfredo (Danelle) Avelino Jr. of Pahoa, Gloria (Javier) Irizarry of Selma, Texas, Lorena Reyes of Tamuning, Guam, Richard (Raynell) Avelino Sr. of Monroe, Wash., and Anita Lynn (John) Ramos of Pahoa; sisters, Marion Manuel of Naalehu, Violet Vasconcellos of Aiea, Oahu, and Carol Shamburger of Kailua-Kona; 65 grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews and cousins. Beatrice Fumiko Correa, 98, of Kailua-Kona died Sept. 10 at Roo Lan Healthcare Center in Lacey, Wash. Born in Honolulu, she was a member of St. Michael’s Catholic Church a volunteer for Kona police and seamstress. Services at Mililani Memorial Mortuary at later date. George “Bull” Tamotsu Fujiwara, 92, of Hilo and formerly of Aiea, Oahu, died Sept. 17 at Yukio Okutsu State Veterans Home. Born in Olaa, he was a retired Pearl Harbor Post Office clerk, volunteer at Hawaii Hybrids and U.S. Army Korean War veteran. Private services. Inurnment at the National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific, Punchbowl at a later date. No flowers or koden (monetary gifts). Survived by wife, Yaeko Fujiwara of Hilo; sons, Duane (Phyllis) Fujiwara and Myles (Yonghui) Fujiwara of Aiea; daughter, Lorene (Gerrit) Takasaki of Hakalau; daughter-in-law, Donna Fujiwara of Kalaheo, Kauai; sister, Frances Tanaka of Hilo; seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews. Naoto Katada, 94, of Hilo died Sept. 20 at Hilo Medical Center. Born in Hilo, he was a bulk sugar superintendent for the former Hawaii Transportation &Terminal and U.S. Army veteran.
