Kyong Ae Chong, 70, of Hilo died Sept. 29 at the Hawaii Care Choices Pohai Malama Care Center. Born in South Korea, she was a retired cook. Survivors are asked to contact Dodo Mortuary at 935-5751.

Fredie Sulquiano Domingo, 42, of Kapaau died Sept. 14 at North Hawaii Community Hospital. Born in Marcos, Ilocos Norte, he was an assistant manager for a printing company in Dubai, insurance agent for Fil-Am Life Insurance Company, call center operator, and member of St. Padua Catholic Church in the Philippines. Mass 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 3, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Hawi. Seating limited; mask and social distancing required. Survived by parents, Modesto and Felicidad Domingo of Kapaau; sisters, Frecia (Eric) Aludino and Jenny (Runald) Domingo of Kapaau; hanai sisters, Clarita Tagaca of Hawi and Gloria (Artemio) Abian of Kapaau; hanai brother, Chris (Helen) Sulquiano of Kapaau; maternal grandfather, Mariano Sulquiano of Hawi; maternal grandmother, Concepcion Sulquiano of Philippines; aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. Kenneth Scott French, 53, of Hilo died Sept. 12 at home. Born in California, he was a residential construction supervisor in Central Texas and the owner/builder of Ken French Hawaiian Homes. No services. Scattering of ashes at later date. Survived by father, Thomas E. French of Hilo; brother, Douglas (Steve) French of Santa Ana, Calif.; sons, Kenneth “Scott” French Jr., Harlan (Bella) French and Ryan French of Texas; sister in-law, Lolly (Stephen) French of Hilo. Adolph “Al” N. Gafkowski Jr., 78, of Hilo died on Sept. 26 at home. Born in Chicago, he worked for I.B.M. and The Computer Store and was a U.S. Navy Vietnam veteran. No services. Survived by wife, Paige Gafkowski; brother, James Gafkowski; many cousins. Arrangements by Dodo Mortuary.

Chiyono “Jo” Shimokawa, 94, of Hilo died on Sept. 2 at home. Born in Hilo, she worked at the former Sure Save Supermarket, was the owner of the former Houselots Store, and member of Hilo Daijingu. Private services held. No flowers or koden (monetary donations). Survived by son, Cyril (Sandy Nuha) Shimokawa of Hilo; daughter, Lila Shimokawa of Hilo; sisters, Miyuki Masuda of Honolulu and Sachiko (Sadami) Yamamoto of Hilo; one grandson; nieces and nephews.
