The state Department of Health reported 56 new COVID-19 cases today, with 49 on Oahu and seven on Hawaii Island.

That brings the total number of cases statewide to 11,459.

According to Hilo Medical Center, as of Sunday there were 26 deaths on Hawaii Island, with two newly reported deaths associated with the cluster at Yukio Okutsu State Veterans Home. That brings the veterans home death toll to 24, with the other two deaths unrelated to the cluster.

The new cases bring Hawaii County’s total since the pandemic began to 651.

The City and County of Honolulu have reported 10,338 cases, Maui County 385 and Kauai County 57, with 28 cases of Hawaii residents diagnosed outside the state.

The DOH’s death toll of 120 doesn’t include several from the veterans home due to their verification requirements.
