Hawaii County Civil Defense reported Saturday that the number of new active COVID-19 cases on Hawaii Island, reported and monitored by the state Department of Health was seven, bringing the total number of cases on the Big Island up to 639 since the pandemic started.

Civil Defense also said Hilo Medical Center reported an additional three deaths Saturday for a total of 22 on the Big Island, with 21 of those deaths reported at Yukio Okutsu State Veterans Home. A 19-person team from the Veterans Administration is at the veterans home to support operations.
