Liselotte Kamahele Castaneda, 56, of Honokaa died Sept. 1 at Kona Community Hospital. Born in Germany, she was a security officer. No services. Survived by husband, Larry Castaneda of Honokaa; parents, Bernard Labasan and Patsy Sabarre of Kealakekua; brothers, Michael (Maddie) DeJesus of Kailua-Kona, John (Kalele Napoleon) of Oahu and Mark DeJesus of Volcano; aunts, uncles and cousins. Wayne Gilbert De Motta, 65, of Hilo died Sept. 7 at Hilo Medical Center. Born in Hilo, he was a retired Hawaii County paramedic, formerly worked at Hilo Coast Processing Co., was a member of Keaukaha Canoe Club and Hawaii Firefighters Association, earned a black belt from Honomu Judo Club and was a fisherman and hunter. Services at a later date. Survived by daughters, Kimberly De Motta and Kaycie (Ryland) Uchima of Pepeekeo, Keala (Jason) Abadilla of Hilo; parents, Gilbert and Hannah De Motta of Hilo; brothers, Howard (Lyn) De Motta of Mililani, Oahu, and Wesly (Selena) De Motta of Pepeekeo; sister, Gayle (Kenneth) Higa of Hilo; 10 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. Russell Keoki Mahi, 67, of Waimea died Sept. 8 at North Hawaii Community Hospital. Born in Honolulu, he was a self-employed mason. Private services. Kawailiula Lei Waipa Thornton, 88, of Keokea, Kalapana, died Sept.7 at home. Born in Hilo, she was a retired registered nurse, caregiver, kumu hula and member of the Kupuna Club. Survived by sons, Ronnie Thornton of Kailua-Kona, John (Wilma) Thornton of Kalapana, Robert (Sharri) Thornton of Hilo and Mark Thornton of Keaau; grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
