State records two new COVID-19 deaths, total cases now top 10,000

The state Department of Health reported 66 new COVID-19 cases today, bringing the statewide total number of cases to 10,025.

Also reported were two new coronavirus-related deaths, bringing the death toll statewide to 88.

The latest deaths were on Oahu and Maui but no further details were provided.

It’s the first time in more than a month new cases didn’t number in the triple-digits.

Of the new cases, 58 were in the City and County of Honolulu, bringing its case total to 9,058. Hawaii County reported six new cases with its total number now at 523. Two new cases were on Maui, where the case total is now at 360.

Kauai County’s case total remains at 58, with no new cases reported today.

Hawaii residents reported infected while out of state number 26.

Of the state’s cases, 599 have required hospitalization and 2,063 have been released from isolation as “recovered.”
