The Hawaii County Council will no longer take oral public testimony from conference rooms located at the West Hawaii Civic Center and Hawaii County Building starting Tuesday.

Instead, oral public testimony will be received via WebEx. The Office of the County Clerk, in a press release Thursday, said the change was being made to “help minimize the potential spread of COVID-19 through physical distancing.”

People wanting to provide oral public testimony can register to do so by emailing jeanette.aiello@hawaiicounty.gov or calling 961-8255 no later than noon one business day before the applicable meeting of the council and its committees.

Each meeting agenda will include contact and registration information to provide oral testimony, a reminder that the meetings are available for viewing via livestream, how to provide written testimony and a notice that the meetings remain closed to the public.
