DOH: 261 new COVID-19 cases, 42nd and 43rd deaths reported

The state Department of Health reported 261 new COVID-19 cases today, and the 42nd and 43rd coronavirus-related death.

There are now 5,609 statewide cases reported since the pandemic began.

Today’s new cases include 234 on Oahu, seven on Hawaii Island and 20 on Maui, according to DOH.

The death was on Oahu, but no other information was immediately provided.

One Maui case was re-categorized to Oahu and one Oahu case was removed from the counts due to updated information, according to DOH.

Hawaii County Civil Defense said this morning that there are 24 active Big Island cases, one requiring hospitalization.

The overall statewide case total includes 5,111 on Oahu, 262 in Maui County, 159 in Hawaii County, and 54 in Kauai County, according to health officials.

The total also includes 23 Hawaii residents diagnosed outside of the state.

According to DOH, 303 cases have required hospitalization.

As of today, 1,977 patients now classified as “released from isolation.”
