DOH reports 174 new COVID-19 cases, two on Hawaii Island

The state Department of Health reported 175 new COVID-19 cases today. That raises the overall statewide total to 5,215.

Today’s new cases include 163 on Oahu, two on Hawaii Island and nine on Maui, according to DOH.

As a result of updated information, one Big Island case was removed from the counts, the health department said.

Hawaii County Civil Defense said this morning that there are 21 active Big Island cases, none requiring hospitalization.

The overall statewide case total includes 4,754 on Oahu, 235 in Maui County, 149 in Hawaii County, and 54 in Kauai County, according to health officials.

The total also includes 23 Hawaii residents diagnosed outside of the state.

The coronavirus-related death toll remains 40, according to DOH.

DOH said of the cases reported statewide, so far, 4,839, or 93%, are residents.

According to DOH, about 6% of the cases have required hospitalization.

As of today, 1,868 patients now classified as “released from isolation.”
