The state Department of Health has reported 233 new COVID-19 cases today, bringing the statewide total to 4,543.

Five new cases have been reported on the Big Island, bringing the county’s total to 144 since the start of the pandemic.

Today’s new cases also include 218 on Oahu, nine on Maui and one on Kauai.

As result of updated information, one case from Maui and one from Oahu were removed from the counts.

According to the DOH, 277 cases have required hospitalization.

While today marked the state’s second highest daily count, today’s total was much less than the record-high 355 cases reported Thursday.
