After graduating in the spring, it didn’t take Kupaa Harrison long to find a job.

The former UH-Hilo forward signed a professional contract with Club Baloncesto Tormes in Spain.

The 6-foot-5 Kailua, Oahu, native averaged 17.7 points and 7.1 rebounds a game during the 2019-20 season and was named to the All-PacWest second team.

The senior captain led the Vulcans in points (461), points per game, rebounds, steals (42), starts (26), and minutes played (34.2). He was also second in assists (58) and shot 49 percent from the field and 76 percent from the free throw line.

Harrison made three game-winning shots. His most memorable was on Jan. 27 against Holy Names.

He dropped a 3-pointer with one second left in overtime to topple the Hawks, one day after his basketball idol Kobe Bryant passed away.

Harrison wore No. 24, the same number as the Los Angeles Lakers star.

He was a model of consistency, scoring in double figures in all but one game, when he was sick against Point Loma.

He was also a hit in the classroom and was a two-time All-PacWest scholar athlete.

Former coach GE Coleman called Harrison “one of the best players in the league, if not the best.”

CB Tormes plays in the Liga EBA, the fourth tier of Spanish basketball.

The team finished 10-10 and in seventh place during the 2019-20 season.
