The Hawaii State Teachers Association said today that COVID-19 has been reported at five schools in Hawaii since Aug. 6, including Hilo Intermediate School.

The HSTA held a news conference this afternoon, which can be viewed online at facebook.com/HawaiiStateTeachersAssociation.

According to the HSTA, there have been at least nine campuses with COVID-19 in the last 11 days, in which some staff were quarantined and campuses closed.

Cases also were reported at Campbell High, Kapolei Middle, Moanalua Elementary, Moanalua High School, Iliahi Elementary, Kaala Elementary, Leilehua High and Waialae Public Charter School, all on Oahu, the HSTA said.

HSTA President Corey Rosenlee said no list has been provided by the state Department of Health or Department of Education, and the union only is reporting cases it has verified.

This story will be updated in Wednesday’s edition of the Hawaii Tribune-Herald.
