Scot K-aloha Aiona, 30, of Waimanalo, Oahu, formerly of Hilo and San Francisco, died May 20 on Oahu. A 2007 Hilo High School graduate, he worked for, among others, Jas. A. Glover, Ikaika Construction, S&S Welding and Fabrication and Kakaako Bakery. Visitation 9-10:30 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 1, at Nani Mau Gardens, 421 Makalika St. Burial services for immediate family at Homelani Memorial Park following the services. Celebration of life and lunch 11:30 a.m. at Nani Mau Gardens. Pittsburgh Steelers black and yellow attire requested. Survived by son, Samson Davidson Aiona; Samson’s mother, Tina Davidson; parents, Scot Aiona and Kealoha K-aloha Aiona; brother, Solomon (Glory) K-aloha Aiona; sisters, Charity Kanani (Horacio) K-aloha Aiona and Ciara Hilina‘i Aiona; paternal grandmother, Geraldine Aumua.

Alaric Paul Benevides, 70, of Hilo died June 1 at Centerville Specialty Care in Centerville, Iowa. He was retired from Hy-Vee Iowa, a U.S. Navy Vietnam War veteran and enjoyed motorcycling and camping. Private family services. Survived by daughter, Jessica Ann Lehua Murphy of California; sister, Bonnie Maris Mahuna of Colorado; brothers, Francis (Linda) Benevides Jr. and Lance (Elizabeth) M.P. Benevides of Hilo, Stefan (Lubna) Benevides of Libya; two grandsons; 12 nieces and nephews.

Santiago Cordero, 91, of Hilo died July 13 at Hilo Medical Center. Born in Hilo, he was a retired diesel mechanic for HT&T and other diesel shops, member of numerous Big Three unions and a pastor of The Gospel of Alpha and Omega Church in Hilo. Private services held. Survived by wife, Anna K. Cordero of Hilo; daughter, Sanvelyn Cordero of Hilo; sons, Anson Cordero and James Cordero of Hilo; sister, Josephine Galeon of Hilo; brother, Alfredo Cordero of California; grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins. Randolph “Randy” Kahuwila Ioane, 65, of Hilo died July 11 at Hilo Medical Center. Born in Hilo, he was retired from the state Department of Agriculture, a former Securitas security guard, bassist and singer in Ol’ School Band, Da Blahlas and others and member of Malia Puka O Kalani Catholic Church. Memorial services 11 a.m.-noon Saturday, Aug. 1, at the Duke Ioane residence, 341 Todd Ave., in Hilo. Lunch to follow. Parking on Lauae Yung Avenue. Survived by wife, Lillian Myra Kehaulani Kalei Ioane of Hilo; son, Randy (Roxy) Lau of Dayton, Nev.; stepsons, Ioane Kua of Hilo, Jason Kamakele and Joel Kaulana Nahoku (Amber) Kamakele of Oahu; stepdaughters, Kessel (Eric) Loo and Mahealani (Samson) Pouha of Hilo, Shalia Kamakele (Christian) Davis of Oahu; brothers, Duke (Brenda) Ioane and Mickey (Pattie) Ioane of Hilo; father- and mother-in-law, Delbert and Lillian Whitney of Hilo; two grandchildren, 11 step-grandchildren and a step-great-granddaughter; nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. Sueko “Sue” Muramaru, 87, of Paauilo died July 23 at a care home. Born in Kealia, Kauai, she was a retired medical receptionist from the office of Dr. Tawn Keeney, volunteer for Boy Scouts of America and member of Honokaa United Methodist Church and Kukaiau-Kaohe Kumiai. Private services held. Survived by husband, Sadao Muramaru of Paauilo; children, Steen U. Muramaru of Honokaa, Starr T. Muramaru of Portland, Ore., and Shane Y. Lilian Yurie Suefuji, 85, of Holualoa died July 21 at home. Born in Holualoa, she was a retired secretary for Geo Co. and worked for J.M. Tanaka Construction Co. Private services.
