‘Wonderful care’
I just returned home after 10 days being a patient at Hilo Medical Center.
The care given by the staff was wonderful. I felt like I was a member of the ohana of each caregiver.
It is impossible to mention and thank each person by name, but Conrad Andrade stands out as representative of all the kind caring help I received. His comforting, calm, reassuring help that he provided me in the late night as he tended to my needs will never be forgotten. His kindness was typical of the excellent care that I received.
I am certain that my speedy recovery was in large measure due to the aloha given me by the entire staff.
I don’t want you to get sick, but if you are hospitalized at the Hilo Medical Center, be assured that you will be given wonderful care and aloha.

Winners and losers
What’s up with all the campaign bashing and defaming of people’s characters in the process? For we all know that blowing out someone else’s candle does not make yours shine any brighter.
Instead of ripping apart candidates who are willing to stand for change, and having the courage to run for office to face off and expose the inadequacies in our government systems, we should be greatly supporting and commending them for their efforts.
Without sheepdogs for candidates, who would be there to protect the flock from the wolves?
The difference between winners and losers is winners do everything they can to not only improve themselves, but their communities. Losers belittle other people’s achievements, usually to get a competitive edge on their opponents.
But the reality is, those who engage in gratuitous physical or verbal attacks on others actually envy their opponents and/or those they are intentionally trying to shame and defame.
They do this out of jealousy, fear and an inferiority complex. Which only intensifies through discouragement, failure and low self-esteem or self-worth.
With so many concerned candidates vying for much-needed change on behalf of all of us, you should show a hell of a lot more appreciation toward the very ones who are willing to stick their heads out on the line for the people.

Selfless service
With all the leftist media-fed rioting and chest-thumping throughout the mainland and beyond about how Trump and his supporters are, I felt time to weigh in on service versus opinion.
Do you know why you will never see a Big Island conservative Republican paint large, free Hawaiian heritage murals for people to have more community pride?
Do you know why you’ll never see a Big Island conservative Republican volunteer for Red Cross or the fire department or do things like give time and monetary resources and materials and goods and equipment for keiki clubs and local community music venues?
I know why you’ll never see it. Because I already did all that. And I will continue to serve nation and community proudly.
My opinions are worthless. Only my deeds mean anything.
Gonna say it now: Selfless service to country and community matters.
