Police have charged a 65-year-old Orchidland Estates man with second-degree murder for an incident that occurred in the driveway of his home on Thursday evening.

The victim has been identified as 58-year-old Felix A. Padamada Jr. of Keaau.

Shortly before 8:30 p.m. Thursday, police responded to a reported verbal argument at a residence on 37th Avenue in Orchidland. Madrigal reported to arriving officers that two men had entered his property and attacked him with a knife.

Padamada’s lifeless body was located on the driveway, just inside the fence. No one else was at the scene.

Police arrested the homeowner, Isauro Garcia Madrigal, at the scene and later took him to Hilo Medical Center for treatment of a hand injury reportedly sustained during the confrontation.

An autopsy was performed Friday morning and determined that Padamada died as a result of multiple stab wounds about his neck and upper body. The manner of death was ruled a homicide.

Madrigal remains in police custody in lieu of $2 million bail and has an initial court appearance scheduled for Monday in Hilo District Court.

Potential witnesses or anyone with information about this case is asked to call the police non-emergency line at 935-3311 or Crime Stoppers at 961-8300.
