Shizuko “Elsie” Juanita Dela Cruz, 93, of Paauilo died June 30 at Hale Ho‘ola Hamakua in Honokaa. Born in Ookala, she was a retired kitchen manager for the former Honokaa Hospital. Private services. Survived by daughters, Leah (Michael) Hunt of Reno, Nev.; Ann (Jerry) Lines-Tallman of Windsor, Calif.; daughter-in-law, Reene Dela Cruz of Santa Rosa, Calif.; sister, Julia Kaneshige of Paauilo; companion, Taichi Yahata of Honokaa; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews. Marilyn Chieko Kamei, 83, of Hilo died July 6 at home. Born in Puunene, Maui, she was a retired medical secretary for Kuakini Health System and member of Honpa Hongwanji Hilo Betsuin and Senior Net Program. Private services held.
