DOH reports 23 new cases of COVID-19 and 3 deaths, bringing the death toll to 22

The state Department of Health reports 23 new cases of COVID-19 statewide as of noon today, the day after the pandemic’s peak daily reported number of 41 new cases.

The statewide total of cases is now 1,243.

Three deaths were also reported, bringing the statewide novel death total from novel coronavirus to 22.

One of the deaths was of an elderly Kauai resident receiving medical treatment in Arizona, while two were elderly Oahu residents, a man and a woman.

Of the new cases, 19 were on Oahu, one each were on Hawaii Island and Maui and two were Hawaii residents whose infections were reported from out of state.

The total case number in the City and County of Honolulu is 942.

Maui County has the second-highest case total, with 135 cases.

Hawaii County now has 102 reported cases, while Kauai County’s case total is 43.

Twenty-one cases, overall, have been of Hawaii residents diagnosed while out of state.

So far, 128 of Hawaii’s cases have required hospitalization.

A total of 911 individuals have been released from isolation as recovered. according to DOH.
