A simple prayer
Let us all give thanks that the plague has not caused more suffering in Hilo, and let us pray for those who have suffered physical or economic problems during this trial.

10 ‘great’ steps
Here’s how President Donald Trump is making America great again.
1. Get China to help Trump get re-elected.
2. Trump says building concentration camps for Uighur Muslims was the “right thing to do” in China.
3. Trump offered “personal favours to dictators.”
4. Trump suggested he wanted to serve more than two terms. Trump told China’s leader that Americans were keen for him to make the constitutional changes needed for him to serve more than two terms.
6. Trump didn’t know the United Kingdom was a nuclear power.
7. Trump thinks Finland is part of Russia, and wanted the U.S. to buy the country of Greenland.
8. Trump tried to force the U.S. out of NATO.
9. Trump thinks invading Venezuela would be “cool,” as long as Trump does not have to fight for America himself. His bone spurs keep him on the golf course.
10. Ignore COVID-19 and focus on Wall Street instead, while it gets manipulated, again, right before the big crash leading to the Great Depression.

Every citizen’s duty
Kenneth Beilstein’s letter of Tuesday (Your Views, Tribune-Herald) is about as wrong-headed as it can be.
First, the quarantine rules are in place to protect Hawaii residents.
Visitors who don’t like our laws do not get to ignore them at will. A visitor who drives down Ali‘i Drive at 60 mph should be arrested, whether they like the speed limit or not.
Visitors ignoring the quarantine law should also be arrested.
The notion that ordinary citizens should not help the police identify lawbreakers is absurd. In fact, it is every citizen’s duty to report suspected law violations to the police.
If I saw someone burglarizing Mr. Beilstein’s home, I’m sure he would be glad if I called the police and told them about it.
Visitors violating quarantine are breaking the law and deserve whatever punishment they get.
