This is a poem for the essential workers.

I thank all of you

For being resilient

For being stubborn

Active, selfless, altruistic

Because the front lines is where you’re on

Fighting for others’ lives

Keeping up what we built up

Making our lives move

Putting others over yourself

Performing selfless acts of compassion

Thank you wouldn’t be the most fitting words

For your many sacrifices

Though what other words are there

So, thank you for being there

— ‘Ihilani

Thank you to the essential workers for going to work every day for the well-being of their community. We really appreciate you going to work and risking your health and well-being to keep your communities safe.

I feel that because essential workers’ lives are on the line and they have no choice but to go to work, they should be paid more than their average pay. Some essential workers are getting pay cuts when they really deserve a pay raise. We should be giving them some sort of award because they could have chosen to give up on their community and their work for their own well-being, but they chose to go to work and risk their own lives every single day.

But if they catch COVID-19, they are also risking their families’ lives as well. So that means their family is also willing to let their own mother, father, son or daughter go to work every day because they know it’s the right thing to do.

Essential workers deserve to be recognized by their community for what they do. Thank you to all the essential workers out there who risk their lives for us. We really appreciate all that you do.

Dear essential workers: Thank you for all you do in these current difficult times and all the time. Coronavirus has made your jobs harder with added precautionary measures along with your current duties. Every day, you continue to do your jobs and help our community. You all deserve a big thank you, especially during this hard time.

Each and every one of you deserve way more praise and gratitude than you receive. Not many people realize the impact all of you have on our community daily. During this pandemic, your work and service is more prominent, making people express their gratitude toward you all. In reality, you should be getting so many more thank-yous on a daily basis, even when there isn’t a pandemic.

We also realize that while we stay safe at home, you all leave your families to perform services we all desperately need and for that we are grateful. So this is for you. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for doing your jobs so our lives can be made a little easier.

My name is Reef, and I just wanted to say thank you to the essential workers for working every day for us and the community. I know it is so hard for all of you to do this every day when there is a lot of sickness going on around the world. I know that you just want to stay home with your family. But, everybody needs all of your help to make us stay healthy, safe and strong.

Everybody is very, very thankful for you guys for helping our community. I am thankful for having all of you working every day to help me not get ill, allowing me to stay home and be safe and, most importantly, helping our community stay safe and strong all together. Thank you for helping our community.

I know it’s been really hard trying to keep us safe and providing us with food, but when this coronavirus is over, then we will be back to normal. We just have to deal with this and get through this, and then we will be fine. There will be some changes though.

Some people have to go to work so they can get money to pay their bills. Before there was this disease, most places have not had delivery and the stores were really packed. And some people disobey to use a mask, but you have to use a mask … because we are trying to prevent this coronavirus so people like me don’t catch the virus.

Some people don’t stand a few feet apart, and they act like there is no coronavirus, but there really is and when they catch the virus then they will understand what 6 feet apart is. Do what the officers say so we can prevent this disease!

I appreciate and thank those who are actually staying 6 feet apart and trying to stay away from this virus because it is serious. Mahalo and thank you very much.

I just want to say thank you essential workers for working and doing your job during this COVID-19. We appreciate you going to work for our communities.

In my opinion, I think that essential workers should get paid more than usual because they are risking their lives and their families’ lives. Essential workers’ lives are on the line, and they’re doing their jobs but in a bad situation. That’s why I think they should get more pay raises.

I truly enjoy essential workers helping us during this corona pandemic. It means everything to me that you’re risking your lives for innocent people. I want to appreciate you regarding your excellent performance, which has been an honor for me.

There are some people who decided to quit, while there are others doing what they love for other people. I hope other people realize it is really important to stay home, but it is also important for me to give a huge thanks to the essential workers for their participation in helping the world. We would be stuck without you guys. Thank you so much again.
