Patricia Ann Carvalho, 88, of Hilo died May 22 at Hawaii Care Choices Pohai Malama Care Center. Born in Makawao, Maui, she was a retired nurse’s aide for Life Care Center of Hilo and member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, American Legion Ladies Auxiliary and Big Island Portuguese Culture Club. Private services held. Survived by daughter, Judy (Gary) Puniwai of Kurtistown; son, Jerret Carvalho of Hilo; brother, James (Carol) Tavares of Kula, Maui; sister, Eileen Mattos of Makawao; sisters-in-law, Patricia Tavares and Christine Tavares of Makawao, Henrietta Carvalho of Hilo, Wilden (Jack) Tavares of Haiku, Maui; six grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews. Miriam “Mimi” C. Godoy-Pieri, 71, of Kailua-Kona died April 27 at Kona Community Hospital. Born in Hilo, she was a retired escrow officer and office manager. Private services at a later date. Joyce Jo Macdonald, 88, of Captain Cook died March 28 at home. Born in Idabel, Okla., she was a former registered nurse at Kona Community Hospital and member of South Kona Senior Citizens Group.
